Northampton Saints team manager Lennie Newman is leaving the club.

Newman has been with the club in a managerial role for nine years and also played 120 games for the Saints.

Newman told the club's website: "As a player I knew when the time was right to move on, and I now have that same feeling that it's time to move on.

"I leave the club with some amazing memories in my 21-year involvement and I wish everyone at the club my best wishes for the future."

He added: "Jim Mallinder (Northampton boss) has his hands firmly on the tiller and I wish him continued success."

Saints chief executive Allan Robson said: "Lennie is one of the longest-serving members of staff and has worked hard behind the scenes for many years.

"He has been committed to the club, staying loyal through thick and thin, and I and everyone at the club wish him all the best for the future."
