No sentiment for Bath, says Ovens

Laurence Ovens
Ovens returns to former club Bath with Falcons on Saturday

Newcastle Falcons prop Laurence Ovens has played down the significance of returning to former club Bath in Saturday's Premiership game.

Ovens, 24, left the West Country club in the summer after five seasons but is adamant his attentions will lie with his current employers.

"I try to look forward and my main thoughts are with Newcastle," he told BBC Newcastle.

"I want to go down there and produce a good game, getting the right result."

Falcons are yet to record a win in the Premiership this season, having drawn three and lost two of their first five games, but have a 100% record in the European Challenge Cup with two wins from two.

And Ovens is confident that Sunday's home defeat of Albi can be the springboard to further success, starting with Saturday's game.

"Certainly the team benefitted from a very good win at the weekend, we've been playing well but things just haven't been clicking," he said.

"I think things are just starting to click as a team now, and from a personal point of view I'm feeling good."

Falcons' match with Bath at the Recreation Ground is live on BBC Newcastle, kick-off is at 1415 BST.
