Munster captain Anthony Foley will be ruled out for around two months after sustaining a shoulder injury in the Heineken Cup win over Leicester.
Foley was injured in Sunday's Heineken Cup game against Leicester
Foley is certain to miss the holders' Heineken clash against Bourgoin on Saturday and both cup games in December against Cardiff Blues.
His injury will end a run of 70 successive Heineken Cup games for Declan Kidney's side.
Foley's absence is likely to mean Alan Quinlan returning to the starting side.
The Munster captain was left out of a number of Ireland squads this year and this injury could mean that his international days are over.
Foley has earned 62 Irish caps.
