Llanelli Scarlets boss Nigel Davies is convinced his experiences over the last 12 months will prove invaluable.
Davies was Gareth Jenkins' assistant when Wales flopped at the 2007 World Cup and took over at Llanelli after a stint as WRU head of rugby development.
Davies said: "I would not have changed that experience for anything. It was invaluable. You can't understand it unless you go through it.
"Hopefully I can put some of the things I've learned into practice."
The former Wales and Scarlets centre also indicated fans can expect a departure from the fluid style for which they are renowned as they seek to make a mark as they prepare to move to new stadium Parc y Sgarlets.
Davies said: "This season is very historic and as a group of people who manage and play in this team we have a lot of responsibility.
"We must ensure we say farewell to Stradey Park in the appropriate manner and that is to try to win the last three games there.
"We're constantly looking to prove things to people and I'm very keen to make a success of this and to make sure the Scarlets are back at the top of European rugby.
"So is the group of people I'm working with and we're very focused on doing that.
"There will be one or two surprises, but I don't want to talk too much about that at this stage because that would be pre-empting my selection within the squad.
Our style will be pragmatic and hopefully whatever we do, we'll do well

"But I think we have a number of youngsters who will certainly be given opportunities.
"When you do that, nine times out of 10 they show up for you and I'm quite excited about two or three of them.
"Our style will be pragmatic and hopefully what will be absolutely fundamental to us is that whatever we do, we'll do well.
"In the past we've had a very broad game. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I think we are going to be pretty focused on a couple of areas.
"If we get those right, then the rest will fall into place."
