Hamilton's hat-trick helped the Tigers gain a bonus point

Leicester got their Heineken Cup campaign back on track with a bonus-point victory over Viadana.

Scott Hamilton gained a hat-trick as the Tigers prevented Viadana recording their first European win in 14 games.

The visitors were eight points ahead within 10 minutes after wing Murphy touched down, following Jeremy Staunton's close-range penalty.

After Pierre Hola's penalty, Kaine Robertson levelled the scores but the visitors hit back immediately.

With Leicester's penalty count approaching double figures, Hola made no mistake with a penalty after 53 minutes to leave the visitors sweating at 22-11.

Then, Jordan Crane was yellow carded in the 63rd minute for tackling without the ball to set up a nervy final quarter.

But it did not matter as Leicester eased home to increase the margin through late scores from Hamilton, Amorosino and a late penalty try.

Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill:
"Viadana have good players, are doing well in the Italian league and have a good set piece and kicking game. They are a very strong team.

"They made the game really hard for us and we must give them huge credit for that. Any side which comes here and thinks they can just turn up will come unstuck. It was a hard, physical battle for us.

"It was frustrating and disjointed at times but we took our tries really well. We have found from experience in Italy that you have to be patient, go through the phases and take your opportunities.

"We didn't want to chase the game too early because that is when you make mistakes. But seven tries is probably a decent return in the end. We've scored 11 tries in the last two weeks and that's a good return in the first two rounds."
