Ellis may need resting says Meyer

Harry Ellis
Leicester-born Ellis has won 18 caps for England

Leicester Tigers coach Heyneke Meyer has said England scrum-half Harry Ellis may need to be rested to allow him to fully recover from injury.

The 26-year-old missed the Tigers tie at Worcester and has been ruled out of the home clash with Wasps on Friday.

Meyer told the Guardian: "We need to manage him all season because if he puts too much pressure on his knee he's going to get chronic injuries there."

Ellis ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in May 2007.
