Leeds Carnegie can avoid the drop - Adrian Jarvis

New Leeds Carnegie fly-half Adrian Jarvis believes his side can avoid relegation from the Premiership.

The 27-year-old joined from Bristol until the end of the season on Sunday.

Jarvis told BBC Radio Leeds: "One of the things you hear from Leeds is that the guys are positive and there's a good team atmosphere.

"Just from being here one day you can see how strong it is and they're very confident they won't be in 12th place come the end of the season."

Leeds are currently four points adrift at the bottom of the table and host leaders Leicester on Sunday.

Jarvis, who played his final game for Bristol on Sunday, is also hoping that he can impress enough at Headingley to earn a longer deal.

"If it goes well then hopefully something will present itself and that's the opportunity that's in front of me," he said.

"If I come here and play well and show what I can do, then hopefully there'll be another contract at the end of the season.

"I've got to set my stall out in training first and work hard to get into the team to start off with before I can get any Premiership rugby.

"Hopefully it'll go well in training and then I might get a chance over the next few months."

Leeds Carnegie director of rugby Andy Key added: "Adrian has been there, seen that and done that at the highest level so we welcome him with open arms.

"He's a very experienced 10, a player that has good qualities when it comes to controlling the game and he's a renowned goal-kicker.

"Adrian is under no illusions - he's coming in to support the squad, he's coming in to fight for a place, and we've done it for the right reasons to make sure we're not vulnerable if we were to pick up injuries."
