Gloucester lock Will James has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at Kingsholm until 2012.

James is in his fourth season with the club having joined from Cornish Pirates in the summer of 2006.

He told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It's always a nervous time when your contract is up - you know that in six months' time you may be out of work.

"So I'm delighted to secure two more years. It's been the most enjoyable time for me as a rugby player."

James said: "It's been a fantastic experience and I'm looking forward to two more successful years.

"We have an amazing team spirit. It's a place where I enjoy playing rugby. We have a good coaching team, everyone gets on well. It's a tight ship and a nice place to be."

The 33-year-old accepts that he may need to remain patient this season.

"I want to play every game of rugby but realistically that's not going to happen," he continued.

"You have a competitive squad of players and a lot of games.

"As long as you give 100 per cent when you do play, that's all you can do."
