Glasgow suffer Evans injury blow

Scotland centre Max Evans has been ruled out for up to six months after suffering knee ligament damage.

The 25-year-old was stretchered off during Glasgow's 34-23 Magners League defeat by Ospreys on Sunday.

Glasgow team doctor Gerry Haggerty said: "He will undergo an operation to repair the cartilage. We estimate Max could be out for four to six months."

The Scot, whose younger brother Thom also plays for Glasgow, won his first cap against Canada in November.

Haggerty added: "The outcome of the scan shows that Max's anterior cruciate ligament is intact, which is positive news."

Evans had been hoping to earn a late call-up to the British and Irish Lions squad following Tom Shanklin's withdrawal with a shoulder injury.

But he is likely to miss the start of next season and faces a race to regain fitness for the November Tests against Fiji, Australia and Argentina.
