Hamilton was a key player for Edinburgh last season

Lock Craig Hamilton, currently on Scotland A duty, has agreed a new two-year contract extension with Edinburgh. The towering second row was a virtual ever-present as Edinburgh sealed second place in last term's Magners League. "A lot of second rows don't really hit their peak until later in their careers," said 29-year-old Hamilton. "Simon Shaw has done really well and to get onto a Lions tour at 37 is an incredible achievement." Hamilton had spells with Newcastle, Glasgow and Border Reivers before making the switch to Edinburgh in 2007. "I'm really happy to stay with Edinburgh for another two years," he added. "The way we finished the season, with six straight wins, was great. "I'm delighted with the way everything has gone over the past 12 months - both with Edinburgh and now Scotland 'A' - but I realise there is still plenty of room for improvement."
