Glasgow claimed their fourth win in five Magners League matches by beating a disappointing Connacht in Galway.

The visitors led 23-8 at half-time with John Barclay and Rory Lamont scoring tries and Dan Parks kicking 13 points.

Connacht's first-half points included a Paul Warwick try - and the fly-half's penalty plus a try from Conor McPhillips cut Glasgow's lead to 23-16.

Hefin O'Hare and Keith Tkachuk replied with tries for Glasgow before Connacht claimed a late penalty try.

Glasgow led as early as the second minute thanks to a brilliant try from flanker John Barclay after some poor tackling from Connacht. Parks converted the score.

Connacht responded well, with Warwick scoring what could well be the try of the season.

He marked in his own 22, took a quick tap and beat three tackles before kicking ahead and winning the race against three defenders.

However, Parks added two penalties before kicking a superb drop-goal under pressure to stretch the lead to 16-5 at the half-hour mark.

Rory Lamont then glided through some non-existent tackles minutes later to stretch the lead to 18 after Parks had added the extras.

A late Warwick penalty narrowed the gap slightly at the break, but Glasgow were in control.

Another Warwick penalty and a McPhillips try, after a Lamont fumble, left the score at 23-16, but tries from replacement O'Hare and prop Tkachuk secured Glasgow's bonus point.

Yellow cards for Connacht's John Muldoon and Brett Sturgess as well as Glasgow duo Tkachuk and Justin Va'a followed in the closing quarter.

Connacht were awarded a penalty try with 10 minutes remaining but Parks replied with a penalty to put the seal on victory.
