Yapp eyeing switch to tight-head

Gethin Jenkins has kept Yapp out of the Wales and Blues sides

Cardiff Blues and Wales prop John Yapp could be tried out at tight-head next season after a trial in the position in club rugby in Australia.

Yapp, 25, has eight caps at loose-head and played in the 2005 Grand Slam, but Gethin Jenkins has been ahead of him in the regional and country pecking order.

The 19st 5lbs Yapp has been playing tight-head in a five-week spell in Canberra with the Tuggeranong Vikings.

His last cap was as a replacement in Argentina two years ago.
