Johnson top of Blues wanted list
Scott Johnson
Johnson is wanted to replace the outgoing Rob Howley
Cardiff Blues expect former Wales coach Scott Johnson to decide over the next few weeks if he is returning to Wales.

Johnson's future as Australia assistant coach has been in doubt since the recent appointment of Robbie Deans as the Wallabies' head coach.

Blues head coach Dai Young says Johnson is top of their list to replace the departing Rob Howley, who is taking up a coaching post with Wales.

"It's important we replace Rob with quality," said Young.

Backs coach Howley will fulfil a similar role with Wales, initially on a part-time basis, but switching to a full-time role in May.

And the Blues want to make sure they have a suitable replacement lined up for the beginning of next season.

"He (Johnson) has got the Australia job to bottom out whether he is going to continue in his post or not," added Young.

"I think we will be just one of the two or three regions, clubs and provinces that would be interested in Scott, but there's a long way to go."
