Bristol have signed Kiwi scrum-half Jason Spice from Cardiff Blues for the start of next season.

The 34-year-old joined the Welsh region in 2007 and has made 43 appearances for them scoring five tries.

Spice has also represented his country, having played for New Zealand A and appearing on the bench for the All Blacks in 2001.

Bristol have also announced that Argentina international Mariano Sambucetti has signed a new contract.

The 30-year-old lock joined the club in May 2005 and has played regularly this season following a serious hamstring injury last year.

Scrum-half Spice began his playing career in his homeland and went on to play Super 12 rugby for the Auckland Blues and the Hurricanes between 1998 and 2003.

He moved to Wales in 2004 to join the Ospreys helping them win the Celtic League in 2004/05 and the Magners League in 2006/07 before joining Blues last season.
