Fearns played in Sale's 19-7 defeat to Bath last week
Bath head coach Steve Meehan says the club would be keen on signing Sale back row forward Carl Fearns.
The 21-year-old former England Under-18s captain also played at Under-20s level in the World Championships in 2009.
"He's a dynamic player and very physical and fits the direction of this squad and where it's heading," Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol.
"If something happened there we would be interested in talking to Carl."
Bath have been searching for a replacement for captain and loose forward Luke Watson, who is returning to his native South Africa in the summer.
Other confirmed departures include fellow Springbok Butch James and prop Aaron Jarvis, who has signed a deal with Ospreys for next season.
The West Country side have already filled some of those gaps with the signing of Leicester centre Dan Hipkiss and Gloucester and England forward Dave Attwood.
And they are still hopeful of bringing in St Helens' England scrum-half Kyle Eastmond from rugby league.
Were Eastmond move to The Rec, the 21-year-old would follow in the footsteps of England centre Shontayne Hape whose own future at the club is far from certain.
Hape played rugby league for Bradford Bulls and New Zealand before moving to The Rec in 2008.
