Bath yet to decide on captaincy

Bath

Bath are still to decide who will captain the team next season, coach Brad Davis says.

Scrum-half Michael Claassens filled the role last season but the club also have Luke Watson and Stuart Hooper - both skippers at their former clubs.

And new signing Lewis Moody, who has been captaining England during the summer, is another contender.

"That's still a discussion that's going to be taking place - an ongoing discussion," Davis told the BBC.

Moody is due to arrive at the Rec in the next few weeks after resting from England's tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Davis added that he was shocked that Bath fly-half Olly Barkley had been left out of both the England elite player squad and the second-string Saxons party.

"It dumbfounds me. For him to be absolutely omitted outright is disappointing for the player, a benefit for Bath, but I am shocked," he said.
