Bath focus on Premiership restart

Steve Meehan
Meehan wants Bath to push on in the next 12 weeks of competition

Bath head coach Steve Meehan says his team is fully focussed on the Premiership after last weekend's international break.

Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol: "We are fit and we're strong so we've got a big push on now for the next 12 weeks.

"The break gave the players an opportunity to mentally have a bit of down time and physically to get over a few knocks they've taken.

"It's a new phase of the competition so We've got to get our heads down."

Bath have enjoyed a strong start to the Premiership, and sit on top of the table with four out of five wins.

"We are very comfortable in our game.

"We are looking forward to getting out there and getting our Premiership campaign back underway."

Bath will take on second-placed Leicester at the Rec on Saturday and Meehan knows the match will be an important opportunity to put some distance between themselves and the Tigers.

"If we can develop any kind of breathing space, it is not such a bad idea."

Meehan confirmed the return of back row Andy Beattie and second row Danny Grewcock back from injury and flanker Chris Goodman's return is imminent.
