Bath held off Llanelli Scarlets in a spirited pre-season match at the Rec.

Scarlets fly-half Ceiron Thomas and rival Shaun Berne exchanged penalties, before Bath captain Michael Lipman muscled his way over for a try.

Berne missed the conversion but made amends with a penalty to leave Bath leading 11-6 at half-time.

Rob Higgit's try and Rhys Priestland's kicks gave Scarlets the lead, but Joe Maddock's fine try and good kicking from Jack Cuthbert saw Bath home.

Former New Zealand hooker Kees Meeuws made his debut for the Scarlets, but will have to wait for his first win with the Welsh region.
