Dixon joined Bath in 2006 from Super 14 side The Stormers and has made 46 appearances for the club.
The 30-year-old has mainly played second string to England international Lee Mears during his time at Bath, but has received more playing time of late.
"This season has been the highlight of my career at Bath so far. We are moving from strength to strength," Dixon said.
Dixon becomes the fourth Bath player to extend his current deal with the club, following wingers Joe Maddock and Matt Banahan and scrum half Mike Baxter, who all agreed new contracts recently.
This year we have a good opportunity to bring some silverware back to Bath
England internationals Matt Stevens and Olly Barkley remain unsigned for next season and club captain Steve Borthwick has already announced he will join Saracens in the summer.
"I joined the club for the same reasons that Borthwick is leaving. I think I just needed a change and a new challenge," Dixon said.
He added: "This year we have a good opportunity to bring some silverware back to Bath."
