O'Sullivan contacted over US post

Former Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan
Eddie O'Sullivan is reported to be a candidate for the US Eagles post

Former Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has emerged as a possible successor to Scott Johnson as coach of the USA team.

Australian Johnson is leaving the Eagles at the end of the season to take over at Welsh club Ospreys.

US Rugby have officially contacted O'Sullivan through his agent John Baker to check on his availability.

O'Sullivan made two coaching trips to the US last year. He was involved with the Eagles during the 1999 World Cup before becoming Ireland assistant.

Following his elevation to head coach in place of Warren Gatland, O'Sullivan guided Ireland to three Triple Crowns before being ousted following the 33-10 defeat at Twickenham last season.
