Ireland lost 26-8 to hosts France in their opening game at the IRB World Under-21 Championship on Friday.

France took charge with tries from prop Yohann Montes and scrum-half Sebastien Tillous-Borde on 18 and 19 minutes.

Skipper and Belfast Harlequins hooker Stuart Philpott touched down for Ireland in the 52nd minute and Conan Doyle added a penalty.

But France secured a bonus-point win with further tries from Lock Denys Drozdz and winger Jacques Boussuge.
