Borders were stung by a stunning fightback by second-top Munster in the Celtic League at Netherdale.

The Scottish side, bottom of the table, were impressive in building up a 23-7 half-time lead after tries by Stephen Cranston and Simon Danielli.

But Munster roared back after the break to add to Paul Devlin's first-half try.

Gerry Flannery, Donnacha O'Callaghan, Conan Doyle, Rob Henderson and Anthony Foley got the touchdowns to complete an amazing turnaround.

Stand-off Charlie Hore had nudged the Borders in front with a ninth-minute penalty.

Cranston celebrated his return from injury by sliding in beside the posts following slick handling work by prop Tom McGee and lock Mark Blair.

Scotland winger Danielli pounced for an interception score to give Hore his second easy conversion.

Hore confidently banged over another penalty to make the gap 20 points - only for Devlin to break the Munster duck with an opportunist touchdown, goaled by Jason Holland.

Munster prop John Hayes was yellow carded for a string of rucking offences and Hore slotted the kick.

Hooker Flannery capitalised on hesitant marking to dive over for Munster's second try as the visitors came out fighting after the break.

O'Callaghan claimed a scoring touch after being jettisoned over the line by a powerful pack-drive. Holland added the extras to slash the lead to just four points.

Substitute centre Doyle raced through a midfield gap to give Holland a formality of a conversion.

Former Lions hero Henderson skipped in for yet another score.

Veteran back-row Foley turned the recovery into a rout by ploughing over from close quarters, Holland taking his conversion tally to four.
