Experts' verdict

BBC Sport pundits Jeremy Guscott and Jonathan Davies reflect on England's dismal defeat in Paris.

England coach Andy Robinson has some serious thinking to do now.

England made opportunities in their last matches without taking them, but they didn't look like scoring against France.

I am struggling to see where they go from here. The performance was terrible to be honest.

France didn't play particularly well but tactically they were a lot smarter in the first half.

England made far too many mistakes and forced it too much in the second half.

The disappointing thing was that no-one put their hands up and said: "I can take you to the promised land."

I still think there is something more to be said about the Martin Corry/Lawrence Dallaglio situation.

Is Corry the right leader? And once Mike Tindall went off, no-one seemed to take charge of the backline either.

Former Wales fly-half

I feel it is one or the other with Corry and Dallaglio - they are both very similar players and give you similiar things.

I thought Corry was England's best back-rower - he was maybe the only player to put his hand up; they were poor.

Lawrence didn't make much impact when he came on, but it is difficult when your front five is on the back foot.

England will be disappointed with their creativity - there was absolutely zero.

The forwards didn't have the domination they have had in previous matches and there were far too many basic errors.

They played most of the match behind the gain line and I don't think the full-back came into the line once.

But you have to give credit to France - they totally dominated the contact area.
