Josh Lewsey - 5:
Started poorly when mix-up with Noon cost first try, and some aimless kicking didn't help. Little spark.
Mark Cueto - 5:
Sloppy pass early on put him in debit, and had few opportunities to show his wares going forward.
Jamie Noon - 5:
At fault for the first try when he missed Michalak's high bomb, and rarely saw the ball thereafter.
Mike Tindall - 5:
Sick before the game, and brought little shape to proceedings before trooping off after 57 minutes.
Ben Cohen - 4:
Caught up in the early farce and a succession of handling errors will put his spot under more pressure.
Charlie Hodgson - 4:
Dodgy hamstring was the official reason for his withdrawal, but it spared him further humiliation.
Matt Dawson - 4:
Doubtful with illness and brought back for experience but little sign of it; gave away costly penalty.
Matt Stevens - 5:
Under pressure early on but helped steady the scrummage either side of half-time before replaced.
Steve Thompson - 5:
Continued to find his line-out targets but struggled at scrum-time and anonymous in the loose again.
Julian White - 6:
Sylvain Marconnet had him in trouble but recovered composure to win some battle points, if not the war.
Steve Borthwick - 5:
Solid at the line-out but, like the rest of the front five, overpowered in the tight exchanges.
Danny Grewcock - 5:
England needed him at his snarling best but was outplayed by French counterparts before trooping off late on.
Joe Worsley - 5:
Sacrificial lamb for Dallaglio but can't complain. Gave away penalty and struggled at breakdown.
Lewis Moody - 6:
Worked manfully to stem the tide and put himself about but another fruitless day for the back-rower.
Martin Corry - 6: Spirited show with several good charges, but leadership will again come under scrutiny.
REPLACEMENTS:
Andy Goode - 6:
On at half-time for the hapless Hodgson. Good tactical kicking but pass intercepted for final try.
Harry Ellis - 4:
Replaced Dawson for final quarter but his failure to collect kick-through allowed Traille his score.
Tom Voyce - 5:
Came on for Tindall and immediately penalised for throwing ball away. A few forays but little impact.
Lee Mears - 5:
On for the last quarter. Solid at set-piece but little impact in the loose.
Andrew Sheridan - 5:
Helped keep the scrum strong after replacing Stevens but little impact elsewhere.
Lawrence Dallaglio - 5:
Replaced Worsley for final quarter but couldn't stem the tide.
Simon Shaw - 4:
On for final 10 minutes and gave away final penalty.
