Clockwatch: England 47-13 Wales

Full time: England's power-packed performance lays down an ominous gauntlet as Wales wilt under their aggression.

79 mins: TRY England 47-13 Wales
England pour forward in waves and set up another try for Tom Voyce, converted by Andy Goode.

73 mins: TRY England 40-13 Wales
A powerful England scrum puts Wales on the back foot and sleight of hand by Matt Dawson puts the replacement scrum-half over Wales' line. Leicester's Andy Goode, on for Charlie Hodgson as fly-half, converts.

70 mins TRY England 33-13 Wales
England's Charlie Hodgson ghosts through Wales' midfield but is dragged down yards short. Wales turn over the ball and try to counter but a forward pass hands England a scrum and Lawrence Dallaglio bullocks his way over. Hodgson converts.

68 mins: Julian White comes on as tight-head for England, in place of Andrew Sheridan.

64 mins: England's Lawrence Dallaglio replaces Martin Corry while Lee Mears comes on as hooker for Steve Thompson. For Wales scrum-half Gareth Cooper and lock Adam M Jones replace Dwayne Peel and Ian Gough.

62 mins TRY England 26-13 Wales
England put together a well-worked series of phases, taken on by Harry Ellis, Lewis Moody and Jamie Noon for Mike Tindall to flop over in the left corner. Charlie Hodgson misses the conversion.

60 mins: Charlie Hodgson misses a seemingly straightforward penalty kick for England.

55 mins: England squander a golden scoring opportunity when a long pass out to Mark Cueto on the right allows Wales' drift defence time to reorganise, spurning the overlap.

52 mins: PENALTY England 21-13 Wales
From the re-start, Wales flanker Martyn Williams deliberately jumps into Lewis Moody and receives 10 minutes in the sin-bin. Charlie Hodgson slots the penalty for England.

49 mins: PENALTY England 18-13 Wales
England release Ben Cohen into space on the left but his chip ahead is straight into the arms of Gareth Thomas who launches his own counter. The game opens up and Wales enjoy an attacking period in England's half. Play is eventually brought back for a Lewis Moody infringement and Stephen Jones narrows the gap.

46 mins: A brace of turnovers gives both sides chances to counter, England through Charlie Hodgson and Wales with Colin Charvis. Neither amounts to much in the end.

44 mins: PENALTY England 18-10 Wales
England prod and probe down Wales' left flank and then fire the ball right. Lock Danny Grewcock is dragged down before he can gather the scoring pass and England kick for the line-out. Another Welsh infringement gives Charlie Hodgson a three-pointer from the right.

41 mins: Stephen Jones kicks off the second half for Wales.

Half-time: An absorbing but error-strewn first half with signs of adventure and invention from both sides. Wales will perhaps go in the happier after slowing the gathering pace of England's juggernaut with Peel's try.

33 mins: TRY England 15-10 Wales
Wales scrum-half Dwayne Peel carves a huge hole through England's midfield off an attacking line-out on the left and feeds open-side flanker Martyn Williams for the score. Stephen Jones converts.

30 mins: TRY England 15-3 Wales
England receive an attacking line-out yards from Wales' line after a good half-break from Harry Ellis. Charlie Hodgson lofts a cross-kick into the right corner but England are awarded a penalty and from another line-out, Lewis Moody rumbles over in the left corner. Hodgson's conversion drifts wide.

26 mins: PENALTY England 10-3 Wales
Wales' Mark Jones fails to release the ball and England fly-half Charlie Hodgson accepts an easy three points in front of the posts.

25 mins: Wales pour forward and good work from the backs puts wing Shane Williams into a one-on-one with his opposite number. He chips ahead into England's in-goal area but Ben Cohen dives despairingly to nudge the ball away.

20 mins: England full-back Josh Lewsey runs off nursing his left shoulder. He is replaced by Wasps' Tom Voyce.

17 mins: PENALTY England 7-3 Wales
England concede a free-kick for an illegal dummy throw at a line-out yards from their own try line. Wales choose the scrum and England scrum-half Harry Ellis strays offside to gift Wales' Stephen Jones three points.

14 mins: TRY England 7-0 Wales
England wing Mark Cueto outpaces the Welsh defence to score after good work from a line-out in their own half. Charlie Hodgson converts.

13 mins: Joe Worsley comes back on for Lawrence Dallaglio as lock Adam M Jones replaces the bleeding Ian Gough for Wales.

8 mins: England stand-off Charlie Hodgson is forced to touch down in his own in-goal area after Wales attack off a free-kick, conceded by Ben Cohen for an improper quick line-out attempt.

6 mins: Wales' Dwayne Peel finds a good touch deep in England's half. Lawrence Dallaglio comes on as a blood replacement for England flanker Joe Worsley.

3 mins: A turnover from a ruck in midfield sends Wales wing Mark Jones racing dangerously down the right flank. England scramble back to snuff out the threat.

2 mins: Wales survive the first scrum intact against the supposedly more powerful England pack.

1 min: Charlie Hodgson kicks off for England, playing towards the South Stand.

1527 GMT: England skipper Martin Corry leads the men in white out to a tumultuous roar. They form up for one last chat before lining up for a minute's silence for former England stalwart Maurice Colclough and Wales' Les Williams, who both died recently.

Wales' anthem is first, followed by a mass rendition of God Save the Queen from the Twickenham faithful.

1525 GMT: Captain Gareth Thomas leads Wales out to a muted reception in front of a capacity Twickenham crowd. Wales gather for a huddle in front of the South Stand development, the one chink in the ramparts of Fortress Twickenham.
