38 min: McDonald comes on for Mauger and takes the full-back position.

37 min: The Lions have a line-out on their own 22. Peel kicks to safety.

32 min: TRY New Zealand 21-13 Lions The reason why Joe Rokocoko was left out of the New Zealand squad is partly answered by Sivivatu who picks up the ball after a crossfield move started by Mauger from the scrum. He leaves two tackles behind him on the left, to touch down. Carter misses the conversion.

31 min: Kelleher leaves White for dead. It needs a last-ditch tackle from Thomas to save a almost certain try. New Zealand have the scrum from five yards out.

15 min: PENALTY New Zealand 6-7 Lions Thompson is caught offside. Carter opts to go for three points, despite the All Blacks being just 15 metres out.

12 min: Peel loses the ball. New Zealand win the scrum, 10 metres from the try-line. Lions defence stands firm, with Henson taking out Gear as the winger was approaching the try-line.

8 min: PENALTY New Zealand 3-7 Lions Carter reduces the deficit with a penalty kick from 40 metres out.
