80 mins: Maori keep hold of the ball as they try and close the game out. The final whistle goes and the Maori celebrate their first-ever win over the Lions.
78 mins: Dawson tries to repeat his heroics from the Lions tour of South Africa in 1997 when he breaks from the scrum but he is caught and the Maori gain possession.
77 mins: Williams finds masses of green space in the middle of the field as the Lions sense that they can come back from the dead. The tourists are awarded a scrum after he is tackled but it could have been more as Lewsey was taken out off the ball as he tried to support.
75 mins: TRY NZ Maori 19-13 Lions
The Lions finally put some pressure on the Maori line with the forwards slowly inching the ball forward. The ball is fired wide and Jones plays in O'Driscoll, who carves his way through the midfield for a well-worked try under the posts to gives Lions hope. Jones converts.
72 mins: Williams sees some space in the defence and makes an encouraging break which Jones continues but the Maori defence snuff it out. Thompson is taken off and Shane Byrne will now try and improve the line-out.
70 mins: The Lions make a rare foray into the Maori half and despite being awarded a penalty in kicking range, they opt for an attacking line-out. However, it is a costly error as they lose it and the Maori clear.
68 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 19-6 Lions
D'Arcy is walking a disciplinary tightrope after his early warning and does not help his cause when he dishes out a spear tackle on Tipoki. McAlister increases the Maori lead.
65 mins: After dominating early on, the Lions scrum is now starting lose a bit of ground.
61 mins: Richard Hill tries to give the Lions some momentum but his fellow forwards are too late to the breakdown after he takes the ball into the contact. Not for the first time, Maori come away with the ball.
59 mins: TRY NZ Maori 16-6 Lions
Maori take a decisive lead when the superb Spencer fires a cut-out pass to Leon MacDonald who skips past some poor Lions tackling to touch over. McAlister adds the extras.
58 mins: In-form full-back Josh Lewsey knocks on from a clearance kick but he makes up for it moments later when he comes up with a try-saving tackle on Rico Gear.
56 mins: O'Driscoll tries to clear Lions lines but his night is summed up when the kick slices off his boot.
53 mins: Lions have a bit of possession but just cannot find any room to get their backs going.
50 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 9-6 Lions
Owen returns to action but coach Sir Clive Woodward opts to keep Jenkins on instead of bringing back Sheridan. He may have rued that decision when Jenkins comes in from the side of a ruck close to the posts and Luke McAlister kicks the penalty.
48 mins: Wonderful skill from Spencer has the Lions reeling. With the tourists desperately defending their line, Spencer decides to try a grubber kick but the Lions knock the ball into touch.
45 mins: The Maori pile forward again, Matt Dawson is offside five metres from the line and the home side go for the attacking line-out. O'Connell shows his importance to the side by winning the key line-out ball.
43 mins: A lovely inside pass from Spencer sets up a Maori attack but again it breaks down when Caleb Ralph spills the greasy ball.
42 mins: Inspirational fly-half Spencer, making his last appearance for the Maori before moving to Northampton, comes on for Hill and receives a warm reception.
41 mins: The home side start the second half and Jones gets an early chance to find touch. Carlos Spencer warms up on the touchline while Gethin Jenkins comes on for Michael Owen to give the Lions a complete front row for an early scrum.
HALF TIME: NZ Maori 6-6 Lions
40 mins: With the Maori on the attack again, referee Steve Walsh blows the half-time whistle to end a bruising first half.
38 mins: Sheridan is sin-binned for a wild punch on centre Luke McAlister. He shakes his head as he leaves the field to loud boos and indicates that he himself was hit. However, Hill misses the kick at goal.
37 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 6-6 Lions
After some good work from Thompson and White, the Lions get a penalty when Hill comes over the top at a ruck. Jones, who has just returned to the field, kicks the penalty.
34 mins: Good line-out ball is won by Paul O'Connell and Andrew Sheridan makes important metres into the Maori half.
32 mins: Williams is penalised again at the breakdown while D'Arcy is given a talking to after a stray boot at the same ruck.
31 mins: The Lions produce a massive shove and turn a scrum.
30 mins Jones takes a blow to the face and is forced off for running repairs. Ireland's Ronan O'Gara, who really needs a good game to move up the fly-half pecking order, comes on to replace him.
29 mins: Flynn is offside at a ruck right on the halfway line but Jones' kick just drifts wide. D'Arcy returns to the action after receiving treatment.
27 mins: The Maori attack again thanks to a smart break from centre Rua Tipoki, although there is a suspicion that O'Driscoll was illegally blocked in midfield.
25 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 6-3 Lions
The Lions are struggling to get out of their own half and Williams, who is losing out in his battle with Holah so far, concedes another penalty and Hill puts his side ahead with the kick.
22 mins: Shane Williams tries to run out of the 22 but he spills the ball and the home side are able to attack. The move breaks down however, when Leon MacDonald knocks on.
21 mins: Centre Gordon D'Arcy has to leave the field for a blood injury, testament to the physical nature of the game. He is replaced by Shane Horgan.
20 mins: The Maori break through the Lions defence and after some neat passing they threaten the line. However Richard Hill and Jones just manage to cover.
17 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 3-3 Lions
Prop Julian White, part of the heaviest front row in Lions history, is penalised for not angling in straight at the scum and Hill kicks the three points.
16 mins: Both sides are finding it hard to find space in midfield as both defences are so aggressive and fierce in the tackle.
14 mins: PENALTY NZ Maori 0-3 Lions
Scrum-half Matt Dawson makes a clean break to give the Lions good field position, the Maori forwards infringe at the ruck and Jones kicks the penalty.
11 mins: Martyn Williams struggles to stop the charging Marty Holah from making ground and is then penalised for not rolling away in the tackle. However David Hill misses the kick.
7 mins: Another Lions line-out is messy but Thompson is not helped by the aggressive stance taken by the Maori at the set piece.
6 mins: After the Lions clear the penalty for touch, Steve Thompson's throw is stolen by the beanpole figure of lock Sean Hohneck.
4 mins: It's what we have been waiting for, the first scrum and unsurprisingly there is a slight scuffle as the front rows come up. Although Maori get the push on, hooker Corey Flynn is penalised for a punch.
2 mins: Nice early handling from the dangerous Maori backs gives them some momentum. A high kick goes to the wing of Shane Williams for Rico Gear to chase - looks like the Maori will be targeting that side.
0813: Fly-half Stephen Jones gets the match underway and Maori easily clear their lines.
0811: The Lions take their time to strip off their tracksuits to defuse the Maori haka.
0810: After a passionate rendition of the New Zealand national anthem, the Maori lay down their challenge with their haka. O'Driscoll looks on impassively and has a slight cheeky grin in response.
0804: However, the volume increases when Jono Gibbes leads out the Maori team.
0803: A focused-looking captain Brian O'Driscoll leads his players out onto the Waikato Stadium pitch. The team receive a warm reception, helped by the numerous Lions followers in the ground.
0802: The Lions substitutes wait patiently in the tunnel as the first-team go through their final preparations in the dressing room.
0755: The players are on the pitch going through their paces on a dry and cold night in Hamilton.
