74 mins: After deciding not to kick a penalty, New Zealand work an opening for Robinson. He crashes through a tackle for a well-deserved try.

72 mins: Umaga surges through the middle but has little support. He eventually offloads as New Zealand finally pour forward.

70 mins: South Africa retain the ball for a lengthy spell but can not find a way through New Zealand's defence. Eventually they knock on.

67 mins: New Zealand are penalised for holding on in the tackle. South Africa run the penalty. They drive over the line but the ball is stolen back by the All Blacks.

64 mins: With Lomu lurking on the outside, Mauger passes forward and the move breaks down.

63 mins: New Zealand win a penalty inside the Springboks' 22. They decide not to go for goal.

63 mins: McCaw breaks down the wing but is held up by some desperate South African defending.

61 mins: Lomu is brought on and occupies the left wing position. He has never scored a try against the Springboks.

59 mins: The All Blacks make their one-man advantage count. Howlett creates the space with a superb run and passes to Marshall who finishes off a smart move.

55 mins: Joubert is sent to the sin bin for 10 mins for a high tackle and violent conduct.

53 mins: A speculative kick by Pretorius is gathered by Umaga. He loses the ball in the tackle and Joubert kicks on. He collects the ball and touches down for an easy score. Pretorius converts.

51 mins: The game is becoming a bit untidy as the handling errors increase.

47 mins: New Zealand benefit from two lucky bounces as the South African defence struggles. Umaga chases to touch down. Mehrtens converts.

44 mins: Jack works an opening with a robust run and Mehrtens increases New Zealand's lead with a drop-goal.

40 mins: The All Blacks run the ball out from their own 22. Cullen takes a big hit as the Boks' defence holds firm.

36 mins: Mehrtens misses the conversion.

36 mins: New Zealand regain the lead after a well-worked line-out. Robertson comes short and quickly offloads wide to Hammet, who scores in the corner.

34 mins: The Springboks give away a penalty for playing the ball on the ground. Mehrtens misses the easy kick.

34 mins: South Africa are solid in defence as wave after wave of All Blacks attacks fall just shy of the line. Mehrtens is closest to scoring but is halted by a thunderous tackle.

32 mins: Fighting breaks out after a five-metre scrum is awarded to New Zealand as South Africa knock-on. The All Blacks are beginning to dominate through incisive running and quick hands.

31 mins: New Zealand substitute Umaga receives a rapturous reception as he makes his entry into the game.

29 mins: Marshall dives on the ball but concedes a penalty in the process. Pretorius misses again as the ball hits the upright. He is struggling with the swirling wind.

27 mins: Terblanche takes a heavy tackle as he is unceremoniously dumped on the ground for the second time in as many minutes.

25 mins: Hammet is ruled offside and South Africa win another penalty. Pretorius pulls his kick wide moments after his off-target drop-goal attempt.

20 mins: Strong running from McCaw and Marshall dents the Boks' defence. Sustained pressure is turned into points as swift passing puts Howlett in the clear. He slides over for New Zealand's first try of the tournament. Mehrtens converts.
New Zealand 13-13 South Africa.

16 mins: Seven phases of attacking play put South Africa in the ascendancy once more. Greeff is successful with a drop-goal attempt.
New Zealand 6-13 South Africa.

13 mins: Mehrtens reduces the deficit with a penalty after the Boks are penalised for obstruction.
New Zealand 6-10 South Africa.

11 mins: A spell of South African pressure leads to a drop-goal attempt by Conradie. His effort drifts wide, but the Springboks are awarded a penalty for offside at the ruck. Pretorius puts his side further ahead.
New Zealand 3-10 South Africa.

8 mins: Both captains are spoken to by the referee as the scrum folds. Both sets of players are warned about engaging too early.

6 mins: A powerful drive following a South African steal leads to a scoring opportunity. Greeff jinks past two players to slice through the New Zealand defence to score a superb individual try. Pretorius converts.

5 mins: Terblanche gathers Mehrtens' long kick and punts the ball long into the All Blacks' half.

2 mins: New Zealand are awarded a penalty after a high tackle. Mehrtens makes no mistake, slotting between the posts to open the scoring.
New Zealand 3-0 South Africa.

1 min: An early exchange of kicks yields a line-out for New Zealand in the Springboks half.

0837: South Africa get the game underway as Pretorius kicks off.

0836: South Africa face the New Zealand players as the haka is performed with gusto and edge forward to accept the challenge.

0832: There is still no place for Jonah Lomu in the All Blacks side. Joining him on the sidelines is Tana Umaga.
