Edinburgh centre Peter Jorgensen admits his side face an uphill struggle to qualify from their desperately difficult Heineken Cup pool.
They face European champions Toulouse, English champions Wasps and the Scarlets in the early stages.
"This is the third time in four years we've drawn Toulouse," the 32-year-old Australian centre told BBC Sport.
"With Wasps as well it is going to be very tough, and the Scarlets are no mugs either."
The Welsh side are probably Edinburgh's best chance of a victory, having already defeated them in the Celtic League earlier this season.
And Jorgensen believes that previous victory could act as the perfect springboard to a strong European campaign.
"Winning down in Llanelli for the first time in the first game of the season was a great boost and we have grown in stature since then," he said.
"But the Scarlets have also improved since then and being in the Powergen Cup has helped them come on.
"They will be a different proposition to when we played them in the first game of the season, but I believe we have still got a team to beat them."
Edinburgh open with a home tie against Wasps on Sunday, with Wasps still smarting from their 18-10 Premiership defeat to Sale last weekend.
Jorgensen, though, remains unfazed.
He added: "Playing the best teams is what Europe and the Heineken Cup is all about.
"There are really no easy games and, if you are going to do well and try to hold up the trophy, you are going to come up against the top teams sooner or later.
"Sunday will be a good measure of how we are going."
