Leinster maintained their 100% record in this year's Heineken Cup to move into the quarter-finals with a comfortable win over Treviso.

The Irish side had already ensured their place in the last eight before kick-off but their backs were ruthless.

Leinster ran in a total of nine tries, with international wing Shane Horgan completing an impressive hat-trick.

There was a brace from flanker Shane Jennings, while David Holwell kicked a total of six conversions.

There was scant consolation for a tireless Treviso side, who were rewarded with deserved tries from full-back Brendan Williams and Mario Goosen.

The Irish blitz began very early on as Denis Hickie's pace and agility caught the Italian defence completely by surprise.

Leinster seemingly removed all the glitches which had blighted their game against Bath the previous week, the line-out especially.

And if proof were needed, hooker Shane Byrne produced a great throw to his jumpers before getting the ball back for try number two.

The visitors' defenders had no answer for the lines of running from the Leinster backs, who twice more darted in for tries before the break.

Horgan touched under the posts before Gordon D'Arcy ensured the bonus point (for four tries scored) when he glided over.

Matters worsened dramatically after the break as Leinster added two more tries in less than five minutes.

First Girvan Dempsey was the happy recipient of some swift passing and then Horgan managed his second as a diabolical clearance kick was gratefully received by the well-built wing.

The rout was briefly halted by a battling Treviso before Horgan managed two more tries, one delightfully combined with Hickie, and Jennings also scored twice.

The highlight of the four tries saw Jennings, the clear man of the match, outsprint Williams to score.

Williams made amends with a burrowing try of his own on the hour mark before Mario Goosen, who kicked a penalty and conversion, touched down late on.
