ERC backs Munster demands
Leicester's Austin Healey tackles Munster's John O'Neill
Leicester beat Munster 15-9 in last year's final
Munster have received official backing for their demand of 4,000 tickets for their Heineken Cup quarter-final with Leicester at Welford Road on 13 April.

Heineken Cup rules state that visiting teams are to be allocated 25 per cent of all categories of tickets that are available.

Leicester initially offered Munster fans just 1,000 tickets, claiming their season ticket holders should come first.

But though they are disputing the interpretation of the ruling with the ERC, they insist they will make 25 per cent of the tickets that are on sale available to Munster.

I'd expect this to be resolved in the coming weeks

''The ERC has already written to Leicester on this issue to remind them of their responsibilities to the Participation Agreement,'' said ERC spokeman Diarmaid Murphy.

''ERC wanted to clarify the ticket allocation, as if clarification was needed.

''Munster are entitled to just over 4,000 tickets, and that's that.''

'Fudge'

In response, Leicester spokesman Sam Rossiter-Stead told the BBC Sport website: "We do not anticpate there being any problems in fulfilling our obligations under the Participation Agreement.

He insisted: ''Munster are not entitled to 25 per cent of the tickets of the ground capacity, but what they are entitled to is 25 per cent of the tickets available for sale.

''We have written to the ERC twice and we are still waiting to hear back from them.''

But a Munster spokesman argued that season tickets should be included in the 25 per cent allocation.

''At Thomond Park we do not take seats from the public to accommodate the press.

"That's a fudge."
