Leicester prop Alex Moreno is set to miss the rest of the season after rupturing knee ligaments.
Moreno faces a long lay-off
The Tigers tight-head was hurt in training last week and looks certain to face six months on the sidelines.
"It's lucky we've got depth. Guys like Alex have played a huge role in the early part of the season," Tigers coach Pat Howard told BBC Radio Leicester.
However, Centre Daryl Gibson will not need surgery after dislocating his shoulder against Bristol last month.
"Gibson will be out now for a minimum of three weeks because of nerve damage, but it's more likely to be six weeks," Howard said.
"But then we were talking about four months at one stage, so we have to be positive."
The Welford Road club are hoping that the former All Blacks powerhouse will return to bolster their squad when they lose a host of key players during the Six Nations.
