Gloucester forward Nick Wood has signed a two-year deal with the club, keeping him at Kingsholm until July 2008.
The loosehead prop, an England Under-21 international, is regarded as one of the best prospects in the country.
"Nick has a very bright future and we have made it our business to keep players like him at the club," coach Dean Ryan told the club website.
"He's developing all the time. There aren't many young talented props around so to keep him is great news for us."
Wood, who turns 23 on 9 January, has been in the senior set-up at Gloucester for three years after spending two years coming through the Academy.
"The contract is fantastic news because it means I can concentrate on playing rugby and I know my future is secure - that is very important," said Wood.
