Wakefield venture scrapped
Bobby Skinstad
Bobby Skinstad was believed to be involved in the plans
The Rugby Football Union management board have rejected a proposal from Wakefield over a possible takeover.

They had asked to transfer their membership and right to play to Oxford after being targeted by proposed southern hemisphere side London Tribe.

"The board rejected the proposal by a clear majority," said board chairman Graeme Cattermole.

"As a matter of principle, RFU membership and a club's league should not be available for sale."
