Celtic League - Pool B
Bridgend 41-9 Borders

Bridgend followed up their Celtic League away win over Newport last week with a convincing victory at home to Borders on Saturday.

The Ravens ran in five tries in total, earning a bonus point in the process from a thoroughly convincing display.

  Scoring details:
Bridgend (27) 41:
Tries: Mustoe, G Thomas, Harries, Horsman, Molitika.
Cons: Warlow 5.
Pens: Warlow 2.
Borders (9) 9:
Pens: Utterson 3.
Att: 3,000

Craig Warlow, who switched from wing to his usual position of outside-half late in the game, finished the game with 16 points from five conversions and two penalties.

Thanks to his fine kicking display, Warlow has now passed 500 points from 44 appearances for Bridgend.

Borders, Scotland's newest professional outfit and in their first season, were 27-9 down at half-time having started brightly.

Centre Kevin Utterson put them ahead with a penalty in only the fourth minute, but Bridgend's pack allowed the Scots' experienced half-back partnership of Gary Armstrong and Gregor Townsend little opportunity to create.

Despite also having plenty of experience in the pack, Borders struggled to win any meaningful possession and were restricted to just two further Utterson penalties.

Scrum-half Huw Harries scored the first try for Bridgend after 12 minutes in what was an outstanding individual display, making the most of squad rotation that saw last week's No 9, Sililo Martens, on the bench.

Bridgend could not build on their lead further until the 69th minute when the home side registered their fourth try to clinch a bonus point, before skipper and centre Gareth Thomas completed the rout nine minutes later.
