Caerphilly season preview
Caerphilly managed just one league win last season and it's difficult to see them doing much better this time around.
With the exception of Ebbw Vale, who are suffering a cash crisis and had to offload several of their players, the other Welsh clubs look to have improved and widened the gap between the haves and the have-nots. With the Welsh Rugby Union having announced that there will be automatic relegation for the bottom club at the end of this season, Caerphilly could be looking at the end of their stay in the top flight. The only hope for the Cheesemen is that Ebbw Vale have been dealt a mortal blow by their financial trials and will take Caerphilly's place at the foot of the table. It should add a real edge to proceedings and the home and away matches between the two sides could provide some of the most gripping action the domestic club season has to offer. Caerphilly's strengths last season were the attacking play of Luke Richards and the tireless graft of blindside Ben Watkins, but other players need to stand up and be counted. |
