Moore sets Bridgend target
New Bridgend signing Andy Moore
Andy Moore is looking forward to the new season
New Bridgend signing Andy Moore is looking for a marked improvement in fortunes at the Brewery Field.

The 28-year-old lock, who moved from Swansea at the end of last season knows there are high expectations of his side - and there can be no excuses for another disappointing campaign.

"The last couple of seasons Bridgend have looked, on paper, a potentially dangerous side and everyone's been really wary of them, said the 26-times capped forward.

I was amazed to see the changes that have gone on here
Andy Moore

"You can say that they've under-performed in the bedding-in era of the professional game.

"But there are a few more professionals here now who can gel things together and get a team spirit going. That's probably the biggest thing that will get you through the league season.

"From an outsider's point of view, I was amazed to see the changes that have gone on here. Everyone's really excited about what has been done and hopefully the team can play its part."

Moore was speaking at a press conference where Bridgend announced a new two-year, six-figure sponsorship deal with JVH communications group.

Still hungry

The second row, who captained Wales on their 2001 tour to Japan, was one of 15 new signings paraded by the Ravens at the Brewery Field.

Having missed the short two-Test trip to South Africa, Moore is eager to get back in the international reckoning - by playing well for Bridgend.

"I'm hungry to play for Wales for as long as I can. Hopefully I'll have a good pre-season and then start the season with a bang.

"You've got to earn the right to play for your country and you do that by playing well week-in, week-out for your club and on the international stage."
