0856: We'll finish with this from England manager Martin Johnson: "These games can be awkward, but we kept our discipline pretty well. It was job done tonight, and now we go into a massive week."

matthewdbenson Is now the right time for a reminder that Scotland beat these guys by (only) 34-24? #bbcrwc

0850: This from England skipper Lewis Moody: "We looked at our performances last week and we had a lot to improve on, and today we were much better. That's what happens when we keep hold of the ball and do the basics right. Keeping them off our try line was very pleasing. We had a point to prove today but I think we did that."

0848: Hat-trick man Mark Cueto is named man-of-the-match after scoring more tries in 12 first-half minutes than he had in his previous 28 internationals.

FINAL SCORE: England 67-3 Romania: All over - fluid at times from England, the tries piling up, the caveat being that this was very much a second string Romanian side. Tougher tests lie ahead.

78 mins: Eng 67-3 Rom: It's our old pal Ciuntu again, breaking out from deep in his own half and kicking on, forcing Tindall to lumber back and cover. Flood then weaves his way through an exhausted defence, only a desperate tackle denying Armitage at the other end.

76 mins: Eng 67-3 Rom: Good carry from Simon Shaw, only for Tindall to spill a regulation pass with Ashton poised to cross for his hat-trick into the right corner.

72 mins: Eng 67-3 Rom: Sloppy period of play, Romania's forwards going nowhere in midfield before David Wilson knocks on, the game drifting towards its inevitable conclusion.

67 mins: TRY Ashton, Eng 65-3 Rom: Make it 10 - lovely back-of-hand offload from Tom Palmer in midfield to set a rampaging Haskell away, Ashton steaming up on his left to take an early pass and curve into the left-hand corner. Flood with another laser-guided effort for 67-3, and you'd have to say there are tries available all over the place here.

65 mins: TRY Croft, Eng 58-3 Rom: Super try, the ball going through hands out on the right, Tuillago to Cueto, full-back aimed and drawn, Croft with a neat pick-up and over in the corner. England's ninth try, Flood with a splendid slider from the touchline for 60-3.

63 mins: Eng 53-3 Rom: Romania penalty 40m out, and for some reason they opt to go for the posts. Dumbrava misses right, which is negativity's own reward.

61 mins: Eng 53-3 Rom: Tom Wood on for Moody, Richard Wigglesworth for Youngs. Tom Croft to open-side.

60 mins: TRY Tuillagi, Eng 51-3 Rom: Smash - Manu spots the gap, sees a feeble arm and shoulder, smashes through both and skips over with a grin the size of Milford Sound. Flood pops over the conversion for 53-3.

57 mins: Eng 46-3 Rom: Cole coming back on, for Corbisiero, Simon Shaw on for Louis Deacon. England butcher a chance on the right as Moody flings the ball into touch with gaps gaping.

55 mins: Eng 46-3 Rom: No no, they've wasted it - rumble after rumble from the forwards, and then a panicked pass which hits the prop on his knee. Alas.

54 mins: Eng 46-3 Rom: Sloppy from England 5m from their own line. Romania will have the scrum after an advantage following the knock-on fails to yield. Penalty again - they're inches away...

50 mins: Eng 46-3 Rom: Replacements aplenty now - David Wilson for Dan Cole, Delon Armitage for Ben Foden, Lee Mears for Steve Thompson. Pretty sure that means every single member of England's 30-man squad has now had game-time during this World Cup..

48 mins: TRY Foden, Eng 44-3 Rom: Flood, timing his pass to perfection to send Tuillagi through in midfield. Foden's in acres outside him, and it would take a horrible butchering to blow this - no, nicely done. Flood won't miss that conversion - 46-3.

46 mins: Eng 39-3 Rom: Cueto's taken a knock here. He'll need some treatment - oh, lovely long clearing kick to touch from Flood after some netball-style overambitious passing gets England in trouble on their own 22.

44 mins: Eng 39-3 Rom: Dumbrava with a long-distance pop at the posts from a sixth England pen... nope, sliding just wide..

41 mins: TRY Youngs, Eng 39-3 Rom: Oh, pure class from Ben Youngs. He takes the ball off the base of a scrum on his own 22, dummies through a gap, feeds Tuillagi and then races up on his inside to take the return and dash away for a wonderful score. Toby Flood, on for Wilko at the break, misses the conversion from way out right.

ndsmith1 Better from England. But not really been tested in any area. Expecting a 100 plus score now. #bbcrwc

batts56 Cueto should become a nation! The way he's going he'll have a bonus point on his own! That'll put him ahead of Georgia & Romania!! #BBCRWC

Half-time: Eng 34-3 Rom: Dumbrava hits the left upright with another penalty from the left touchline, and that's the break. Better from England in the second quarter of the game, although they still shipped five pens. You'd expect a landslide in the second period, you really would...

40 mins: Eng 34-3 Rom: He'll survive - got cleaned out by Tindall at the re-start, the centre's knee smashing him somewhere unpleasant.

37 mins: PEN Dumbrava, Eng 34-3 Rom: The underdogs on the board at last with a straightforward three-point slot from 25m. Is Lewis Moody injured here? I'll have a closer look.

35 mins: TRY Ashton, Eng 32-0 Rom: Youngs with a pop pass to put Louis Deacon away. Rumble rumble, feeding Thompson, Ashton outside him and getting the ball as fast as the hooker can move his hands - down the right touchline, never a chance of being caught. Jonny curls over the conversion for 34-0.

32 mins: TRY Ashton, Eng 25-0 Rom: At last, precision and invention - Croft off the top of the line-out, Youngs feeding Haskell, one more to Wilko and the inside ball back to Ashton - through a desperate arm, accelerating in from 15m. Easy conversion from in front for 27-0.

29 mins: Eng 20-0 Rom: Tindall bursts through, another try surely on a pla... no, he's flung it away. Hands on head from the sometime England skipper.

26 mins: TRY Cueto, Eng 20-0 Rom: Muscular turnover from Tindall, and Wilkinson sets Haskell into acres. Last man drawn, Cueto arrowing for the corner, the dive... in he slides. Hat-trick in 12 minutes for the Sale man, the first England player to grab a trio of tries in a World cup match since Josh Lewsey v Uruguay in 2003. Who went on to get five, of course. Wilko misses the conversion from wide.

25 mins: Eng 15-0 Rom: Ciuntu - check the spelling, Fordyce - has a rumble for Romania, but he's wrapped up on halfway.

22 mins: TRY Cueto, Eng 13-0 Rom: That's more like it - mis-pass from Wilko to Tindall, so much space out on the left, and Cueto will dummy to ghost through an enormous hole from 10m out. Wilkinson adds the easy extras for 15-0.

20 mins: Eng 8-0 Rom: Quarter of the match gone, and England yet to find their rhythm. Here's Moody though, crashing through a tackle out wide on the right before a brace of desperate defenders haul him down..

18 mins: Eng 8-0 Rom: Tuillagi throws the ball behind Tindall as England look to find space out on the right. Romania surely offisde there, but it's not given, and as a Mexican Wave breaks out in Dunedin England can't find the quick ball they need.

14 min: TRY Cueto Eng 8-0 Rom: There we go - long pass from Wilkinson to Chris Ashton in a gap, the winger exploding away, drawing the full-back and sending Mark Cueto away for the easiest of finishes in the left-hand corner. Wilkinson slides the extras wide.

12 min: Eng 3-0 Rom: England have another pen here, and this time they'll kick to the corner. Line-out taken cleanly, but Tom Croft is then penalisied for obstruction after Louis Deacon leaps and takes. Wasted chance.

9 min: Eng 3-0 Rom: Finally some possession for the underdogs. Romania's forwards rumble it forward from halfway before Wilkinson takes advantage of a quick line-out to thump away a long clearing kick.

6 min: Eng 3-0 Rom: England's forwards off their feet at the breakdown, and that's the second pen they've shipped already. Bullocking run from Manu Tuillagi, but Ben Foden's pass to Chris Ashton is ruled forward. Tight, but correct.

4 min: Eng 3-0 Rom: England make a mess of a Romanian line-out and launch a wave of attacks with ball through hand - Tom Croft crashes through but can't off-load to his support men, and when James Haskell rumbles on England are pinged. Wasted chance.

1 min: PEN Wilkinson, Eng 3-0 Rom: Whistle goes from Ref Poitre, and we're under way. Early penalty chance for Jonny Wilkinson, 35m out and bang down the middle - yup, easiest of peas.

0654 BST: Romania with a largely second-string XV today, which is hardly the most appetising notion. Still - we shall see. Players coming out of the tunnel in Dunedin, roof keeping all dry from the lashing Otago rain outside.

0648 BST: A few stats to sprinkle on the cornflakes (other breakfast cereals available etc): England have won all four of their previous Test matches against Romania. Their 134-0 victory over them in November 2001 is their biggest ever Test win, and also ranks as Romania's biggest ever Test defeat.

0642 BST: This from England head coach Martin Johnson: "If we get quick ball against this team we should cause them problems, but we have to win that physical battle first. We need a good 80 minute performance."

0635 BST: Our breakfast menu today at the BBC RWC cafe: at 0700 BST we'll be serving some piping hot England v Romania, followed by some punchy All Blacks v France at 0930. I'm assuming you want the works?

0632 BST: There we go. Hardest bit always the first bit of the alarm call. Once you're up it all can only get better. Now then - who's getting the "special teas" in?

0630 BST: Wake up! WAKE UP!
