Glenn Delaney buoyed by return of key Nottingham trio

Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney says the return of Tim Usasz, Sione Kalamafoni and Cesar Sempere will help kickstart their stuttering season.

Despite two straight wins, they still lie only sixth in the Championship, having lost seven times in 13 games.

But full-back Sempere is fit after five-weeks out with a broken hand while scrum-half Usasz and forward Kalamafoni are back from international duty.

"We've got key guys coming back who can make a real difference," Delaney said.

"The return of Tim and Sione will bring another level of experience to our playing squad and add some quality."

The Green & Whites, whose home match against Rotherham on Sunday was called off because of the icy weather, travel to Surrey to face Esher on Saturday and Delaney is bullish about their chances.

"It's quite clear that, when we have our full repertoire of talent to choose from, we have good strength in depth.

"Injuries hit us pretty hard over the last couple of months, but we've got some big players getting ready to return."

Nottingham have also been bolstered in recent weeks by former Sale Sharks prop Martin Halsall, along with fellow new recruits Junior Sifa and Stuart Philpott.

Jimmy Stevens, who has been out since pre-season, has also returned to training while New Zealand lock Ali Williams will link up with the team in January.
