Jersey have signed two new players as they push for promotion from National League Two South.

Full-back David Doherty, 23, joins the side having been released from his contract with Sale Sharks in June.

Winger James Copsey, 25, is the second player to sign for Ben Harvey's side, moving from Championship club Esher.

The pair will go straight into Jersey's starting XV for Saturday's home match with Ealing Trailfinders, who are currently top of the league.

Jersey went down to their first defeat of the season last weekend, losing 25-14 away at Richmond, a result that saw them slip off the top of the table into third.

Jersey assistant coach Kearn Yates told BBC Jersey:
"Saturday's the biggest game of the season - a game like this is a season maker or breaker.

"These are the games that we train hard for all summer and these are the games that decipher if you're going to be in contention for promotion or not.

"As long as our guys are giving 100% and playing the way we know they can, it doesn't really matter about the opposition as we can beat anyone in the league."
