Bristol Rugby boss Paul Hull hails defence

Bristol Rugby head coach Paul Hull credited Sunday's 21-7 win over Cornish Pirates to a strong defence.

The victory was Bristol's first of the season, after they lost their first three games and drew 13-13 away at Moseley last week.

He told BBC Radio Bristol: "We were severely tested but that was our best defensive performance of the year.

"Every team and every coach in the country wants to get that first win under their belts and we've done that."

He added: "The boys dug deep and that gave them confidence to push on, which led to a win. And we were unlucky not to get the bonus point at the end.

"The Pirates were second in the league and you don't get into that position unless you're a good team. They showed at times in the game how good they are.

"Our next few games are against the form sides in the league. We knew that this was going to be a tough time in the calendar."
