Nottingham have signed 22-year-old Tongan back row Sione Kalamafoni.

Kalamafoni, who recently captained his country in the Pacific Nations Cup, said: "It's a really exciting time and I'm raring and ready to go."

Director of rugby Glenn Delaney added: "Sione is exactly the type of quality player we were looking to bring in.

"This an opportunity for him to show everyone on this side of the world what he can do and brilliant to add another high-calibre player to our squad."

Kalamafoni added: "I'm looking forward to working with Glenn who is a fantastic coach and I don't foresee any problems adapting to English life, including the weather, which I know will be very different to the Tongan climate.

"My parents and family back home have supported me playing rugby since I was in high school and obviously they are really happy that I'm now playing for a great club in a great league in England."
