Oxford University Rugby Club have unveiled New Zealander Murray Henderson as their new head coach for the forthcoming season. Henderson leaves a post with the Portuguese national squad to take over from longstanding Dark Blues coach Steve Hill. "Oxford is staging a new era and I'm very lucky to be a part of that new era," Henderson told BBC Oxford. "The challenge is there in front of me and I'll be up for it." Among other goals, Henderson will seek to avenge the narrow defeat inflicted on the Dark Blues in last year's Varsity showpiece at Twickenham when they meet Cambridge again in December. Oxford begin their preparations for the season in the coming weeks, before embarking on a tour of Moscow in August. September will also see them take on professional opposition, with fixtures scheduled against London Wasps and Premiership new boys Exeter Chiefs.
