France omit Sebastien Chabal & William Servat for tour

France have rested Sebastien Chabal and William Servat for their two-Test tour of South Africa and Argentina.

The duo have been given time off by coach Marc Lievremont, who named uncapped duo Wenceslas Lauret and Jerome Porical in his 30-man squad.

Prop Fabien Barcella, number eight Louis Picamoles, fly-half David Skrela, lock Romain Millo-Chluski and centre Maxime Mermoz return after injuries.

France play South Africa on 12 June before taking on Argentina on 26 June.

Lievremont has named 11 players who are set to feature in Saturday's Heineken Cup final as three-time champions Toulouse take on Biarritz at the Stade de France in Paris.

Second row Romain Millo-Chluski is one of eight Toulouse players in the squad while new-boy Lauret is one of three Biarritz faces.

"Lauret is not very famous but we have been following him for a long time," said Lievremont. "With his tackling qualities, he fits the type of profile we were looking for.

"This is a reward for his good season with Biarritz."

Lock Chabal and hooker Servat, who boast 85 caps between them, have been given time off by Lievremont ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

"There are some noteworthy absences due to the need to manage the weariness of some players who played a lot of games during the season," added Lievremont.

"I'm referring to William Servat who has not stopped playing for three seasons at the highest level and Sebastien Chabal, who is recovering from a back injury."

However, Montpellier's Fulgence Ouedraogo, Stade Francais' Antoine Burban and Brive duo Fabrice Estebanez and Alexis Palisson have been left out because their clubs refused to release them for France's team in the London Sevens last week.

"It's a big disappointment because they had given their word they would play and one doesn't go back on his word," added Lievremont.

"It's a temporary sanction but we had to react."
