Esher boss hopeful of National One season extension
Esher RFC team manager Dave Page says he is confident that the National One rugby season will be extended.
The Rugby Football Union and the National Clubs Association are due to make a ruling on the decision after fixtures were affected by poor weather.
The Surrey side have already lost two fixtures, with Saturday's clash at London Scottish also in doubt.
"It's pretty much decided between our governing body and the RFU," Page told BBC Surrey.
"It's just some wording that the RFU want to put in for the extension.
"I assume they're trying to alleviate anyone just cancelling for the sake of it now. I'm pretty confident they will extend it," Page said.
He continued: "I think we were quite confident about the game going on this weekend before the latest bout of snow.
"I know London Scottish are trying every effort to get it cleared so we're hopeful, but if that was postponed then that would move to the 8 May."
Esher and their weekend hosts are currently level on 61 points at the top of National One and Page is relishing the tie.
"We're putting a full team out, it will be the biggest test for the players and there'll be a huge crowd there. Really, Scottish have to win to stay in the race.
"If we lost that game it doesn't put as much pressure on as it would London Scottish."
And Page added that commitments to national rugby were proving problematic for fixture congestion.
"We [also] have issues with players in the England Counties playing Ireland and France [over the next two months].
"We have games on those Saturdays which the regulators will allow us to postpone if we wish, if we had a shortage of players in that squad. There is, in theory, a chance we could have four games going into May."
