Parkins lands Northampton trial

Rugby union

Derby prop Adam Parkins has landed a three-month trial with the Premiership side Northampton Saints.

Head coach Alan Dickens recommended the 19-year-old who only recently returned to Derby following three years in the Leicester Tigers Academy.

Dickens told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "He is a massive loss for Derby but I always try to help players who want to make it at a higher level.

"It sends out the message that there is a path for players to progress."

Parkins could be in the Saints squad for Thursday night's LV= Cup match against Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
