Esher director of rugby Mike Schmid was delighted to see his side close the gap between them and safety in National One to just a single point on Saturday.
The Surrey side beat relegation rivals Moseley 23-17, despite throwing away a 16-7 half-time lead to trail 17-14.
Schmid told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "I'm happy with the result, the outcome is exactly what we wanted.
"The process was a bit painful going through but we got there in the end. We've still got a long way to go."
He continued: "We've got seven big games left. Everyone holds the same amount of winning points so we've just got to win as many of those as we can."
