Jersey hold Shelford to home draw

Jersey came from 6-3 down at half time to draw 6-6 at home to new London Division One leaders Shelford.

In a tight, low-scoring game at St Peter, which remarkably did not produce a try, Jersey's second successive home draw leaves them fifth on six points.

Head Coach Ben Harvey told BBC Radio Jersey: "I think we should have won the game. We're disappointed we didn't, but I can't fault the lads for effort.

"It was a quality game, probably the best advert for London 1 you'd see."

After starting life in London 1 with successive away wins at Tring, then Sutton and Epsom, Jersey were held 20-20 in their first home game against North Walsham before losing 27-11 last week at Barnes.

But, although now without a win in three league games, they can still take great credit from being the first side this season to take a point off Shelford, the Cambridgeshire side having previously boasted a 100 per cent record.
