Redruth went top of National Two as they held on to win a full-bloodied Cornish derby at the Recreation Ground.

Home winger Lewis Vinnicombe went in for the only first-half try to build an 8-0 lead, further boosted by the first of Mark Scriverner's three penalties.

Captain PJ Gidlow then responded to two Adam Staniforth penalties by sliding over in the corner to make it 16-6.

Steve Pape's converted try rallied the

Cornish All Blacks but a third kick from Scriverner saw Redruth home.

Defeat for Launceston drops them from first to third in the table behind Cambridge, who got an extra point for a thumping 10-try 76-3 win at home to Mounts Bay.
