Cornish Pirates 48-5 Newbury

Debutants Marika Vakacegu and Bertrand Bedes opened the scoring with a try each as the Cornish Pirates cruised past Newbury at Cambourne on Sunday.

Samoan fly-half Doug Sanft kicked four conversions and a penalty as he also made his first start for the club.

Newbury's Nick Humphries' try got the score down to 17-5 before the break.

But the Pirates then asserted their superiority with scores from Chris Morgan, Rhodri McAtee, Darren Dawidiuk, Jimmy Moore and Adryan Winnan.
